Instead of a list of do’s and don’ts, a life filled with love, truth and freedom bears the mark of maturity. Free from the chains of legalism. Rather than being told what to do- say- think- and believe, a mature Christian uses biblical principles to guide life’s choices and decisions.
As I was reflecting on the message after service, my mind made the parallel comparison to love and relationships.
Instead of a checklist of must-haves, a love filled with life’s je nois se qua bears the mark of discernment. Free from the chains of Korean dramas. smile. Rather than being told what I want or having love defined for me, I’d rather look for my “imperfect-perfect guy.” The deadly double Ps- passion coupled with potential.

It might strike some as ironic that I’m going to use a Hollywood example, but unfortunately, it’s the only one that seems relevant that I can think of. Have you guys seen “The Constant Gardener”? Well I did and it spoke to me in more ways than one. Ralph Fiennes’ character epitomizes my deadly double Ps.
His character starts off being spineless, almost boring—just another cog in the machine, another worker drone for Her majesty’s government. He regurgitates the official policies of the government. But the layers of his character start peeling off to reveal a true diamond in the rough. By the end of the movie, he has swept me off my feet and leaves me wondering, “Do guys like this exist?” =)
