Found an oasis in the city.... I think I need a pedicure. Posted by Picasa

After our picnic on the Mall, we stopped by the Gay Pride Street Fair before relaxing at the fountain... don't you love Helena's floppy pink hat? :) On the phone is Nat, who's probably getting the 411 on the parties around town. Posted by Picasa

We've got a long way to go...

One day at a time....one person at a time.... one city at a time.

Sports commentator, Mike North, stated on air "Who was the Chinaman on the mound the other day? Whoever it was shouldn't wear a major-league uniform ever again. He was dreadful."

The contact info for his show on WSCR 670 AM can be found at http://www.670thescore.com/info/contact.shtml. Do what you feel is necessary.

Mike North:

People like you make me wonder if we are living in the 21st century.... since apparently you stated you didn't know better than to call Cubs right-hander Jae Kuk Ryu a "Chinaman". Yeah right. And I didn't realize white trash/ white devil were offensive.

Don't feed us your BS about your ignorance and how you said it all the time- you're still not justified nor excused for this 'incident'.

But an acknowledgement of your gross mistake and a sincere apology might help to set things straight with your audience and the American people.

Spent Sunday afternoon on Newbury- it was great to be back. Posted by Picasa

Memorial Weekend in Boston

It was a nice getaway to Boston over this past Memorial weekend. Walked through The Yard and The Square watching the undergrads and their families load up their belongings in preparation for the summer and all their glorious world travel to Asia, Africa, Europe and even the Midwest for the most extreme- seekers. Rode the red line over the Charles River again with the gorgeous views of the Boston skyline. I think I even teared up a little. Attended Memorial Church for service on Sunday. Relived my PAE hell.

One of the highlights of this trip was the great dinner at Oleana that April and I enjoyed on Sunday evening. We started off with their deviled eggs with tuna & black olives and their spinach falafel & mache salad with tahini, yogurt and beets. Then I selected the pork chop with melted manchego cheese & fried fiddleheads with romesco vinaigrette (never knew what fiddleheads were but they were delish!) and April opted for the skirt steak with tomato, cumin, caramelized butter & cheese borek. Of course no dinner is complete without some sweets and so we continued to indulge ourselves by ordering the sicilian almond cremolata with warm chocolate panino and each enjoyed a glass of the sparkling Moscato d'Asti, Elio Perrone 'Clarté' of Piedmonte, Italy (I need to find a store that sells this divine nectar!)
